Representatives from Greenville City Police Department along with others from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol will join together attempting to raise $20,000.00 during this year’s “Cops on Top of a Doughnut Shop” fundraiser for Special Olympics. The fundraiser will begin on Friday June 14, 2013 at 5:00 a.m. concluding Saturday June 15, 2013 at 9:00 p.m. Officers will spend forty hours sitting on top of the Krispy Kreme Doughnut Shop at 302 North Pleasantburg Drive taking donations for this worthwhile cause.
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joys, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship. Prior to this event, officers from the same agencies joined together over two days in May for the Law Enforcement Torch Run of 106 miles from Greenville to Columbia for the statewide Special Olympics Games at Ft. Jackson. Last year’s fundraiser on top of the doughnut shop raised in excess of $20,000.00 for these special athletes last year. We would like to invite anyone out to this event that would like to make a donation to this cause. The link below is also a way to donate directly.
