At approximately 7 a.m. on August 5, 2018, GPD dispatch received a call of an armed robbery in progress at the 1700 Block of Laurens Road. Upon arrival the victim told police officers that Chad Christopher Peek, 34, and another male subject, Chris William Bridwell, 36, were unexpected visitors at his apartment during the early morning hours. The victim said that Peek had just pointed a handgun at him while accusing him of stealing drugs. According to the victim, Peek then began taking items from the victim’s apartment while holding him at gunpoint. GPD officers ordered Peek and Bridwell out of the victim’s apartment. Bridwell was taken into custody after he voluntarily exited the apartment. Peek, on the other hand, refused to exit even after multiple additional commands by officers. GPD K-9 Officer Leo arrived and was deployed into the apartment facilitating the arrest of Peek, who sustained minor injuries to his foot, calf, and thigh related to a bite. He declined EMS transport after being evaluated. Both subjects received drug charges related to methamphetamine and marijuana found on scene. Peek was charged with Armed Robbery, Possession of a Gun/Knife During a Violent Crime, and Resisting Arrest.
