The Greenville Police Department is eligible to receive $34,357 from the U.S. Department of Justice through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program.
The JAG program is the leading source of federal justice funding to state and local jurisdictions and funds can be used to provide additional personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, training, technical assistance and information systems for criminal justice.
GPD is proposing that the JAG grant be used to purchase a new traffic reconstruction collision data recorder (CDR). This device records data such as: vehicle speeds, seatbelt usage, brake application, throttle application, engine RPM and steering input and helps GPD investigate vehicle collisions throughout the year.
The project narrative is available for review and GPD welcomes public comment on the proposed use of the JAG grant. Comments must be submitted to Lieutenant Nathaniel Phillips at email@example.com or mailed to 426 North Main Street, Greenville, SC 29601 by Friday, September 9, 2022.
