COVID-19 Updates

Many have asked if COVID-19 has disrupted Greenlink’s service. As of today, Greenlink is continuing normal service schedules. To maintain a clean working environment for both drivers and customers, Greenlink has implemented the following disinfection measures:

  • Drivers have been instructed to disinfect their work area, including the farebox and other high-touch areas, every two hours
  • Drivers are also equipped with hand sanitizer
  • Hand sanitizer dispensers have been installed on each bus for public use
  • Every bus is disinfected with Alpet D2 – which sanitizes surfaces in just 10 seconds - at 12:30 p.m. and after 7:30 p.m.
  • Staff has ordered an electrostatic spray, which will be used to disinfect the vehicles when the product arrives

Additionally, beginning March 19, Greenlink will operate with a “zero fare” policy, meaning customers will not be required to pay a fare to ride the bus. The intent is to minimize contact between drivers and customers. Eliminating fares also enables customers to get on and off the bus using the rear door, which enhances social distancing practices. Customers in wheelchairs, or those with mobility needs, will be allowed to board at the front door so they can use the bus ramp and access the disability seating at the front of the bus. The ADA seating area, which is located closest to the driver, will be reserved for wheelchair passengers only to increase the distance between customers and drivers.

Thank your bus driver

National Transit Driver Appreciation Day

March 18 was National Driver Appreciation Day, but don’t worry if you missed it - it’s never too late to tell your driver “thank you.”

During such a trying time for our community, our drivers are the heroes who help our neighbors keep their necessary medical care appointments, get the groceries their families need and commute to jobs that don’t have “work from home” flexibility. Without our drivers’ dedication, Greenlink would not be able to operate.

Changes to Trolley Network

Greenlink is revamping the trolley routes in an effort to improve ridership. Before making the changes, Greenlink held two public meetings in November and facilitated a public survey that was open from November 13 to December 13 to solicit community input. A summary of the public input and evaluations can be found on Greenlink’s website.

On January 23, the GTA Board voted to proceed with the following changes:

  • The Heart of Main route will become the South Main route and be shorter in length and time
  • The Top of Main route will become the North Main route and be shorter in length and time
  • The Arts West route will become the West End route and will continue to operate seasonally; however, it will be shorter and will operate Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 6 to 11 p.m.
  • The Augusta route will be replaced with the Attractions route and will operate seasonally on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 8 p.m.
  • The seasonal schedule will change from May-October to April-September

These changes are expected to go into effect in spring 2020.

National Bike to Work Day

May 15 is National Bike to Work Day, but if you live too far from your office to realistically commute by bike, consider riding your bike to the nearest bus stop instead! All of Greenlink’s buses are equipped with bike racks, so let us help you finish your trip without the sweat!
